Traffic signals

Red means stop; a red arrow means no turn until green; flashing red works like a STOP sign. Yellow means stop if you safely can; flashing yellow means slow down and go with care; a flashing yellow arrow lets you turn left after yielding. Green still means yield to anyone in the intersection; a green arrow is a protected turn. A dark signal is an all-way stop. Drivers yield to pedestrians already crossing, even on a flashing DON'T WALK.
